Setup takes about 30 minutes and should be done with a helper.
First, charge the glasses. Put them in the case, plug in the USB-C cable, and wait for the LED to turn solid green. About one hour for the first charge.
Second, pair with your phone. Install the Meta AI app from the App Store on iPhone or Google Play on Android. Open it, sign in with a Meta account, and follow the pairing instructions. The app will find the glasses automatically. Accept the firmware update. Keep the glasses in the case during the update, which takes about 10 minutes.
Third, test the connection. Play music on your phone. You should hear it through the glasses, not the phone speaker. If not, check Bluetooth settings.
Fourth, set up accessibility on your phone. On iPhone, turn on VoiceOver, Announce Notifications, and Hey Siri. On Android, turn on TalkBack, notification reading, and Hey Google. These let the phone talk to you through the glasses.
Fifth, install essential apps. Be My Eyes for volunteer help. WhatsApp for messaging. Envision AI for reading and scene description. Ally for an accessible AI assistant. ScribeMe for live visual assistance and documents. Spotify for music.
Sixth, test everything. Say Hey Meta, what do you see. If the AI describes what's in front of you, setup is complete.
