Reading Text With Your Glasses

To read text, face whatever you want to read and say Hey Meta, read this. The AI reads the text aloud through the glasses speakers.

This works with menus, letters, medicine labels, food packages, signs, and books. Hold the text at about arm's length for best results. Good lighting helps a lot.

You can also ask specific questions about text. Hey Meta, what are the ingredients on this package. Hey Meta, what does this letter say. Hey Meta, what's the price on this label.

For longer text like a full page of a book, the AI will read as much as it can see. It may not get every word. For very long documents, use the Envision AI or ScribeMe app on your phone. Those apps are designed for long texts and documents.

Tips for better reading. Turn your head so the text you want to read is centered in front of you. The camera is in the front of the frame. Get close enough that the text fills your view, but not so close that it's blurry. Natural light or a well-lit room gives the best results. Glossy or reflective surfaces can cause problems.
